Our House Transformation | Hallway Edition
I’m sharing a little peep into my life today that is NOT photography related – though I did take the photos and edit them, so I guess it’s a little related. π In addition to loving all things photography, I also love all things {interior} home design. I’m no expert, but Pinterest and HGTV have really helped me up my game.
I’m a sucker for a good home renovation show. It all started 18 years ago with “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” – my mom and I LOVED watching this show. There is just something about watching a dull, boring space be turned into something beautiful.
I wouldn’t call our home dull and boring. A year ago, when we bought this house, we fell in love with the beautiful property and the house’s warm, cozy charm. However, I was (and still am) eager to transform it into OUR home. We’ve done a lot of painting (well, I do the color choosing and my husband does the painting…thanks Ryan)! The master bedroom, Cooper’s room and the kitchen cabinets have all been painted. I was trying trying to be patient and hold off on painting the main space, but if you know me, I do not excel in having much patience.
The thing with painting the “main space” is that it’s A LOT of space….like a lot. Hallways. Entryways. A great room that consists of a kitchen, dining room and living room…WITH vaulted ceilings. There are a lot of walls…very beige walls that all need some TLC.
Somehow, I convinced my husband that now is a great time to start this project. So this week, we tackled the main hallway and I am blown away with how much better the space looks with paint and some new dΓ©cor (I will link the items below). We went with Pale Oak by Benjamin Moore for the walls. I decided to leave the trim as is – it’s a couple shades darker than the walls and I really love how it turned out. I’m not sure if accent trim is trending right now, but I think it’s a great look.
The once dark, drab hallway is now bright, cozy and inviting. Make sure to scroll down to see all the fun details and to see the before picture!
And stay tuned for more house transformation updates. π
