Our House Transformation | Entryway Edition

Our home transformation saga continues. This time, the entryway received the facelift. But, before I go into everything entryway, I’m going to let you know how this all started.

No more than 3 weeks ago (after Ryan repainted the entire kitchen…cabinets and walls), I swore that we could be done with the main floor updating. Our biggest priority (or at least 3 weeks ago) was to save up money to start finishing the basement. However, with lumber prices still being at an all time high, we are delayed on that for a while…and as I mentioned in my previous blog post, being patient is not my strongest personality trait. My suggestion of “let’s just update the paint” has turned into larger projects. 🙂

Thanks to many hours of Pinterest-ing, I knew I wouldn’t be happy with JUST a painted entryway. I needed texture, contrast and PIZZAZZ…

We drew up plans for board and batten, but it just wasn’t going to work with our existing trim. So after a little more searching on good ole Pinterest, I settled on DIY shiplap. Thanks to a really handy husband, it was painted and installed to perfection.

To finish the space, Ryan installed our new light. I moved my most favorite portraits of the boys from the living room into the entryway. The décor by the little cabinet was already there before the remodel.

I am so happy with how this pace turned out. It is crazy what some wood boards, paint and a new light can do for a space. It’s even crazier that Ryan is still talking to me after two straight weeks of house projects. 😂

Stay tuned for more home transformation updates. I’ve decided to call it “Operation Beige be Gone.”
